Ikegami's new HL-55A, compact, lightweight camera, is designed for ENG and EFP use. This camera, built for rugged, professional broadcast use, employs newly developed Frame Interline Transfer (FIT) CCDs with 400,000 pixels, has absolutely no Fixed Pattern Noise (FPN), has dramatically reduced vertical smear, and enhanced resolution. The camera also contains an electronc six-speed shutter for improved dunamic resolution and slow-motion special effect. The HL-55A belongs to Ikegami's Unicam family of cameras, and is compatible with HL-55 and HL-95 accessories. Various operating systems, such as, stand-alone, on-board VCR, and multicore/triaxial cable extension can be configured around the HL-55A.

  Use of high performance CCD pick-up devices enables lower weight and power consumption to be achieved.

• High resolution and high S/N ratio
  The high performance CCD pickup devices and most advanced circuit technology yield a substantial improvement in resolution, S/N ratio, and sensitivity. The HL-55A features a resolution of 700 horizontal lines, and a high S/N ratio of 62dB or better with performance superior to that of conventional cameras.
• High sensitivity
  The improvement in S/N ratio allows increased video gain of + 24dB, if necessary. An excellent minimum illumination of 7 lux with a- high quality image is possible. The gains on the three position selection switch can be set by internal links for values between 0 and + 24dB in 6dB steps.
• Dynamic DTL
  Dynamic DTL improves resolution and sharpness to ensure consistent images that are crisp and clear 'from center to corner.
• White shading correction
  There are white shading controls for red, green and blue. The correction level is automatically varied to give optimum correction when the lens extender is used.
• Multi-speed electronic shutter
  Featuring a multi-speed electronic shutter, the HL-55A has dynamic resolution even when shooting moving objects, such as in sporting events.
• Horizontal DTL
  Horizontal DTL correction is derived from an RGB mix making it possible to obtain sharp pictures at all times.
• Auto highlight compression / knee aperture correction
  Optimum dynamic range and excellent detail can be achieved in outdoor scenes with high contrast through auto highlight compression circuitry. The knee aperture-circuit provides additional correction to enhance resolution in the highlight areas.
• Optics
  Featuring a newly designed optical system with a high-sensitivity prism, the HL-55A has the excellent spectral characteristics of the HL- 79E and the HL-95. Ikegami's original CCD mounting technique, not only achieves precision CCD positioning, but also helps prevent from registration errors due to changes in temperature.
• Low-pass filter
  A newly developed optical low-pass filter offers considerable reduction in MOIRE, while making best use of the high modulation factor of the CCD's.
• Auto black balance
  Black level can be easily matched without instrumentation.
• Audio level controller
  VCR audio level can be adjusted as appropriate with the audio level controller, together with the audio level marker displayed in the viewfinder.
• VF indicators
  The camera and VCR operating conditions can be checked with the LEOs and character indicators in the viewfinder.
• VF markers
  Center and safety area markers can be displayed in the VF to facilitate framing the camera shot: These markers can be turned on and off as necessary.
• Remote control
  The HL-55A has a digital remote control terminal which can be used even when docked with a VCR. (The remote controller is an optional item.)
• VCR interface
  The HL-55A can be configured with on-board 1/2" broadcast VCR's, including Betacam and M II types. A compact VCR adaptor is used with the standard HL-55A to interface Betacam recorders. For dedicated camera recorder application, the HL-55A can be ordered (option) in Betacam version, eliminating the need for an adaptor.
• Various functions which enhance
  operational characteristics The HL-55A features a wide variety of additional functions including color bars, genlock circuit, and an audio monitor speaker, enabling it to be used in EFP applications as well as in ENG operation. An Auto Iris switch on the side of the camera allows the lens to be opened or closed one f stop above or below normal auto iris setting.
