The X85 frame synchronizer and converter features eight AES inputs and outputs
with up to 32 channels of internal audio processing — and packs the industry’s
most advanced technology into its space-saving 1RU frame.
Dual-channel processing ensures maximum efficiency. An affordable, linear frame
rate conversion option converts 59.94 Hz and 50 Hz-based signals. For live
productions, a profanity-avoidance option delays the program, giving the operator time to “bailout” to aalternate signal in master control. And software-enabled 3 Gb/s upgrade capability enables an easy, economical move anytime you’re ready to make the transition to 1080p.

Single-, Dual- and Multiple-Path Video Processing
The X85 provides unprecedented flexibility for any video processing application.
For frame rate conversion or profanity delay avoidance, a single input is processed to all outputs. If up-, down- and cross-conversion is required, the X85 processor’s dual-channel capability enables users to do much more in less space. And up to five paths can be routed through the X85 for frame sync applications for hybrid facilities. The easily redeployed X85 is ideal for mobile, news, ingest and output processing at a variety of broadcast centers including television stations, cable and satellite facilities and production houses.
Multichannel Audio Processing
With up to 32 channels of internal processing, the X85 offers unsurpassed audio
capability. Audio sources can be selected from embedded audio inputs and AES
For Dolby® applications, a Dolby® E/AC-E decoder and Dolby® E or AC-3 encoder
can be added with full audio metadata processing. Also available are add-on
options for DTS Neural Surround™ UpMix, DownMix and MultiMerge, as well as
DTS Neural Loudness Control.
All audio parameters are controlled from an easy-to-use front panel menu. Four
separate audio tone generators enable different frequency test tones to be applied to each channel for easy left/right channel identification.
Control and monitoring of signals passing through the X85 are enabled using IP
over Ethernet, and instant operator control from the local or remote control panels allows for easy manipulation of video and audio signals. Using two Ethernet ports per unit (one for control, monitoring and video thumbnails, and one for video and audio streaming) makes PC control and monitoring over large networks entirely manageable. A built-in Web server and optional SNMP are industry-standard means of controlling and monitoring the X85 over Ethernet.
Harris® CCS Navigator™ software further enhances the remote control aspects of
the X85 for any application. The NUCLEUS™ network control panel allows complete
customization, enabling the user to tailor the control interface to the specific X85 application.
