Model Details

The PDR 100 Professional Disk Recorder establishes a new category of product designed to accommodate professional-quality video and audio manipulation and storage applications. With a focus on image quality, reliability, and modular flexibility in professional environments, Profile is a solid foundation for existing and future disk-based applications. Its uses for a range of applications make it a viable addition to facilities needing flexibility for the changing video environment.

Just a few of the many capabilities of this platform are:

Four independent disk recorder channels that can either play or record
Random access to all stored information through any of the channels
Supports both 525/59.94 NTSC and 625/50 PAL systems Description
The Profile platform contains a passive EISA motherboard with an integral 32 x 32 CCIR601 component digital video routing system. The EISA bus master is an off-the-shelf i486DX2/66 processor board used for running Windows NT applications.

Storage of video is accomplished using motion JPEG compression and SCSI-2 fast/wide disk control with high performance off-theshelf disk drives. The architecture allows for up to four channels of simultaneous access to the disk array. The symmetrical nature of JPEG allows all channels to be bidirectional, making it possible to read and write to the disk array at the same time. In fact, any combination of simultaneous read and write operations is possible across the four channels.

The video section of Profile can interface to many formats: analog composite, serial digital composite, and serial digital component. All video formats are converted to parallel digital component for use internally. Audio is input or output through dedicated analog 1/0 channels. The analog audio is converted to digital using 16-bit linear PCM, sampled at 48 kHz and routed over the EISA bus.
