dbx 760X Microphone Preamplifier

This is a dbx 760X Microphone Preamplifier that looks like New! The 760X offers two channels of audio purist quality transformerless microphone preamplification with 48 volt phantom power. I hooked several of my large diaphragm mics up to test this unit and was blown away. I was able to get unbelievable amounts of gain without any noticeable noise. According to the manual, "The 760x delivers up to 60db of sonically transparent gain to reveal the detail and audio signature of even the most esoteric studio mics. It transforms their low level output signal to a high level, high current output for direct connection to the line inputs of our mixer, DAT machine, sampler, or any other recording medium that accepts line level analog input."

The 760X follows dbx's previous design standards, and is housed in a 1U black metal casing, taking up half the width of a normal rack space. (There is no accessory kit, rack mounting support system, offered with this unit.) This 760X can be used on a desk or table top or you can rack 2 units side by side if you have the mounting hardware to do this. All external connections to the unit are via the rear panel, which offers balanced XLR sockets for signal input and output, as well as unbalanced jack connections as an alternative output source.

The 760X has two independent channels; each one is assigned a single Gain control and two switches offering phantom power and phase reversal. Two LED indicators on each channel display the current switch settings, and a third flashes to show clipping anywhere within the internal signal chain.

Some of its features include:
• Two channels of high performance microphone preamplifiationin a compact half-rack package
• Floating, electronically balanced line level outputs provide consistent performance into a variety of loads (1/4" unbalanced outputs also provided)
• CLIP indicators signal overload in any part of the circuitry
• Up to 60dB of gain in a low noise, sonically transparent circuit
• Separate Polarity Reverse and Phantom Power switches for each channel
